Big Fun in the BIG EASY! "Wooley Bully" and 12 new tunes from Steve Gardner, Washboard Chaz, The Jake Leg Stompers and Friends

Steve Gardner, Washboard Chaz, The Jake Leg Stompers, Bill Steber,Brandon Armstrong and Friends, Bill Benfield and Hisa Nakase met up this past summer down in the Big Easy, New Orleans, for some BIG FUN.

Hisa Nakase and Bill Benfield flew in from Tokyo for the session.

Bill Steber drove like a mad man down from New York with a pickup truck loaded with wet plat photography gear and his usual variety of musicial instruments.

The group met at the UP TOWN STUDIO and Nick Vitter did and excellent job of engineering this year's session.

Washboard Chaz was pressed for time this year and could only work in the studio with us for a couple of days, as he was booked onto a French summer festival.

So for this year's recording session we invited my father, BIG STEVE, to sit in and play knives with us and yell, "WOOLEY BULLY!" He did a great job.

Dudley Tardo, of the House Rockers Band, came down from his home base in Meridian, Mississippi and played mallet bass drum and snare on several tracks.

Dudley was featured in the movie, LAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI JUKES and is the real deal. We were really honored to have him join us on our new project. Check out his bass drum rig....

Brandon Armstrong flew in to the USA from Berlin, Germany where he had been spending the last year on a Fullbright Fellowship.

We celebrated Brandon's birthday with beer and bananas...an old New Orleans tradition.

Everyone worked hard and I believe that this next project will be better than last year's WALKING THE DOG.

After countless hours, beers and bags of donuts the music traveled through the room and mixed into the wires that only Nick Vitter seemed to know how to untangle.....

WOOLEY BULLY Y'ALL!!!
